A Certification programme on Carbon Trading and Markets was conducted by PMI from 24th June to 26th June 2024 in collaboration with IIT Kanpur in which 42 executives from various departments and stations participated. Based on recent policy developments and sectoral challenges, this is the 3rd in a series of three programmes conducted by PMI on Carbon Trading and Markets.
Addressing the inaugural session, Ms Rachana Singh Bhal, CGM (Strategic HR & Talent Management) & Head (PMI) highlighted the importance of carbon markets for India. She also mentioned that several new programmes are being conducted by PMI as part of capacity building initiatives and developing preparedness for NTPC for the upcoming sectoral challenges and opportunities.
The programme included 12 sessions covering various aspects such as cap-and-trade, future of Carbon trading, opportunities for power generators, Carbon price risk and Simulation of the carbon markets for India. Eminent speakers included Prof. Wasim Ahmad (IIT Kanpur), Prof. Prabina Rajib (Director, BIMTECH), Mr. Indranil Chatterjee (IEX), Dr. Vaibhav Chaturvedi (CEEW) and others. During the last session, Mr. Manish Dabkara, CMD & CEO, EKIESL, a well-known carbon markets expert interacted with the participants and answered their queries on carbon markets.
At valediction, Mr. Manish Dabkara and Ms Rachana Singh Bhal gave away certificates to the participants.
